Current Work
The Indicator Project
The State of the Community Report is an annual publication of indicators of community health. This report includes air and water quality, automobile use, public participation, housing affordability, amount of regional or locally produced food. Also biodiversity, energy consumption, health of population, solid waste generation, water consumption, and people with resources for a healthy life are included in the report.
Steps in the Right Direction
The
Roundtable will be recognizing local businesses that are finding ways
to operate more in a more sustainable mode. Their actions could
include installing energy-saving appliances, cutting pollution,
offering flextime to allow parents more time with their children,
promoting alternative transportation to work, selling organically grown
local products or finding other creative solutions to living and
working in a sustainable way.
Nights of the Roundtable
The goal of this project is to facilitate dialog about sustainability in the South Sound by conducting public forums and workshops. These are evening events and frequently feature guest speakers from the community.
