Indicator: Health of the Population
We measure health of the population with the number of deaths from heart disease and cancer per 100,000 people, typically considered good long-term statistical measures of community health. However, new health issues are emerging such as diabetes and obesity and we may need to begin tracking these as well. The death rate for heart disease has remained steady while the death rate for cancer has declined. 2004 data was not available when this report was compiled.
