Indicator: Social Harmony

Social Harmony LogoThe level of violent crime in juveniles has dropped steadily over the past three years. Don Pierce, Executive Director of the WA Assoc. of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs stated that the decline in juvenile offenses in the state is “a tribute to the upfront and long-term investment in programs within the juvenile justice system that have proven themselves to work.”

Social Harmony Chart
“Each year, Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, (JRA) provides treatment to approximately 1,800 juvenile offenders who may range in age from 8 to 21 years old. Many of these youth are entering JRA with both acute and complex service needs. At the core of JRA's work with youth, is the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM). This model, which JRA began, implementing in 2002, is based on proven interventions that really work to improve behavior, change lives, reduce recidivism, and make communities safer.” - Juvenile Rehabilitation Administration, WA State Dept. of Social and Health Services Website.
